Belfast man jailed over pipe bomb explosion
A Belfast man who blew off part of his left hand with a pipebomb as he attempted to frighten a neighbour has been jailed for three years.
Kevin Martin Vernon, 38, was also ordered to serve a further three years on supervised parole outside Northern Ireland.
The explosion happened at the property of a neighbour in Kansas Avenue on 13 June last year.
Vernon admitted causing an explosion and possessing the pipebomb.
The Crown Court heard that Vernon had only returned to the family home in north Belfast a short time before the explosion.
