British doubles pair set to split
Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski
Fleming and Skupski will play in St Petersburg next week before splitting

Britain's leading doubles pair Colin Fleming and Ken Skupski are to end their partnership.

The duo, who won ATP World Tour titles in 2009 in Metz and St Petersburg, broke into the world's top 50 after making this summer's Eastbourne final.

But the rest of 2010 has not been as successful and Fleming said: "We'll always be friends but it will be best for both of us to freshen things up."

However the pair have not ruled out playing together in Davis Cup matches.

Fleming and Skupski won their doubles match in Britain's 5-0 Davis Cup whitewash of Turkey in July.

Britain's next tie is a Euro/Africa Zone Group II match at home against Tunisia in March 2011.

We have had a lot of success over our time together and we really have enjoyed it

The pair's last scheduled tournament is at next week's St Petersburg Open in Russia where they will be looking to defend the title they won last year.

Scotland's Fleming added: "Ken and I are very proud of our achievements as a team.

"We came through Futures and then Challengers to win two ATP titles, play all four Grand Slams and represent Great Britain in Davis Cup."

Liverpool's Skupski said: "Colin and I decided it was best if we got a fresh start with someone new in 2011.

"We have had a lot of success over our time together and we really have enjoyed it.

"Things have been tough for us over the past few months and we thought it was the best move for both our careers."
