Web design ideas for a retro game review site?

Web design ideas for a retro game review site?
I'm stumped, being aesthetically retarded and having the creativity of a gnat, even knowing what good pre-designed template to rip off is actually a struggle for me. I am uncertain of what to go for here. I know roughly the mechanics of what I want to implement, programming, or at least, installing the back-end system for storing articles and front page news, etc, isn't a problem, I've just been chronically crap at design since forever.
